They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This one might look like a simple snapshot—a daily dose of healthcare in motion—but the real story behind it runs far deeper than any caption could capture. I want to share that story with you.

In recent months, life handed me a curveball I didn’t see coming. A shoulder surgery followed by a flu that swept through our household left me scrambling to keep up with the rhythm of blogging, daily life, and a challenging job that I love. It was a season that tested my resilience in ways I hadn’t imagined, teaching me the quiet power of support and patience.

The heart of this story is not the scar or the progress charts; it’s the team behind the healing. I owe a debt of gratitude to the remarkable Legacy therapy team at Claiborne Memorial Medical Center, whose steady hands and generous hearts guided me through every step.

In the beginning, the pain felt overwhelming, and the road ahead looked daunting. Adam stood by me, witnessing the tears and the moments of frustration, always there with a listening ear. Sam welcomed my endless stories with a warmth that never wavered, a smile that said, “We’ll get through this.” I think it meant therapy and my stories. Felicia made sure my appointments were arranged with care, and Pat challenged me with a home routine that kept me moving even on the toughest days. Each member offered unwavering encouragement and kindness, gently guiding me forward—one small, deliberate step at a time. It’s not just how they treat me; it’s how they treat every patient who walks through their door.

What began as a painful ordeal gradually transformed into a narrative of progress and healing. Beyond the physical improvements, I found something even more meaningful—the connections I forged with this incredible group. They became a source of inspiration and comfort. Whether through shared conversations or moments of vulnerability, I realized I had gained lifelong friends. Their compassionate approach—always encouraging, gently pushing, and providing steadfast support—taught me the true meaning of empathy and care.

I’m confident I’ll graduate from this season soon, and yet I already find myself missing the daily cadence of their company. I’m guessing many patients feel the same. I joke that physical therapy stands for pain and torture, and that Adam is the King of it all, but the truth is more radiant than any joke. I am profoundly grateful for the restoration and growth they helped me achieve. In the words of Helen Keller, “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.” With that truth guiding me, I enter the new year with renewed confidence and gratitude. It’s a mindset we can all carry forward: a resolution to practice gratitude, a pledge to give more, just as those at Legacy and CMMC do. Yes, a job is a job, but perhaps we can all infuse a little more care, encouragement, and appreciation. If we do, we might each bring a touch of unexpected happiness to the world.

As 2026 unfolds, I carry with me the lessons of perseverance, the joy of unexpected friendships, and the excitement of what lies ahead. The scripture reminds us, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31). That verse encapsulates the spirit I want to bring into this year.

This blog may never reach six thousand likes, and that’s perfectly okay. What matters is that it’s written from the heart; a tribute to healthcare workers who restore health and give us hope every single day. For some, it’s just another day on the job; for millions of patients, it’s everything.

CMMC Legacy PT, you will always be some of my favorite people.

Here’s to a great 2026, and as always, have a great day on purpose.
